The distribution of election materials for the chairmanship and councillorship elections in Rivers State commenced on Saturday morning across all local government areas.
At a registration centre in Elekahia, Port Harcourt City LGA, the dispatch of materials to various polling units was observed by scores of party agents and ad hoc personnel as of 9 a.m.
This exercise is being conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), the body responsible for overseeing local government elections across the state's 23 LGAs, 319 wards, and 4,442 polling units.
The current poll is being held six months after the Supreme Court annulled the October 2024 council election in the state over violations of the Electoral Act.
