Dangote Cement Expands To Côte d'Ivoire With New Plant

Dangote Cement Plc is expanding its operations in Africa with a new 3 million metric tonnes per annum (Mta) grinding plant in Côte d’Ivoire. The company plans to commission the facility by the third quarter of 2025.

This new plant is a significant step in Dangote Cement's pan-African strategy, designed to boost its production and export capacity in the region.

"Export volumes from Nigeria increased by 18.2%, with 18 successful clinker shipments made to Ghana and Cameroon. This demonstrates the growing importance of our pan-African footprint and our ongoing commitment to regional trade and self-sufficiency," a company representative stated.

Pathak also revealed that the company’s strategic priorities remain focused on creating long-term value. He said Dangote Cement has made significant progress in further strengthening its cost architecture.

"During the period, we began the phased delivery of 1,600 additional CNG-powered trucks, which will significantly reduce our logistics costs and enhance environmental efficiency.”

This week, Dangote Cement Plc recorded its strongest profit growth in nearly six years, fueled by a stable naira and a rise in cement prices.

Dangote Cement's Expansion Across Africa

Dangote Cement, Africa's leading cement producer, has a strong presence in more than 10 African countries, including Tanzania, South Africa, Ethiopia, Cameroon, the Republic of Congo, and Ghana.

The company's total installed capacity across Africa is 48.6 million tonnes per annum (Mt/a). Of this, Nigeria contributes 32.3 Mt/a, with the remaining 16.3 Mt/a spread across nine other African nations.

As part of its ongoing expansion, Dangote Cement resumed construction in March on an $800 million cement plant in Itori, Ogun State. This new facility, with a capacity of 6 million tonnes per annum (Mt/a), is projected to be completed by November 2026.
